Malcolm Barker

Artist Bio

Malcolm Barker is a farmer and artist who makes most of his paintings while selling potatoes, during the winter months, at Northallerton and Leyburn auction marts.

He works solely in oils because of the slow drying time ( necessary when selling potatoes) and also oils are forgiving, when painting outdoors during a Yorkshire winter.

Selected Work

Name: Moonrise Near Saltburn

I make most of my paintings while selling potatoes, during the winter months, at Northallerton and Leyburn auction marts. This is painted from a photograph, taken in November 2024. The sea was turbulent, and I waited for the moon to rise for the picture that I wanted.
