Artist Bio
Originally from Japan, Miria Miria has lived and worked across Asia, Oceania, and the UK. Her artistic journey began in her 50s, bringing a distinct perspective shaped by diverse cultural and political environments. She holds a First-Class Honours BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MFA with Distinction from BALTIC x Northumbria University. She continues this curatorial and creative practice at Redcar Contemporary Art Gallery, her creative home, where she explores the layered relationships between human and non-human worlds.
Selected Work
Name: Remain
Remain presents human-like shapes that resonate with vulnerability and presence. Together, they invite viewers to discover hidden luminosities and subtle tensions between playfulness and unease. These delicate assemblages exist only in balance, echoing the fragile agency we hold amid planetary time. Uranium and plastic quietly endure, marking our presence beyond the now.
