Hurrel works across various media including video, text, sound and sculpture creating installations in galleries, museums and public spaces. Through an ongoing engagement with lens-based and digital media he explores meeting points between natural and digital environments. His work is often context-based and conceptually driven, revealing cultural and ecological narratives and conflicts. He often collaborates and engages with other professionals.

Name: P A U S EP A U S E reflects on a unique period of time in our contemporary history. It features footage from a small selection of the 80 webcams accessed and recorded by Hurrel, from around the world, during lockdown 2020. Newcastle-based composer/pianist Steve Luck has responded to this footage with specially composed music.
