Terox

Artist Bio

I’m Terox I’m a contemporary graffiti artist from Newcastle. My chosen medium is spray paint, however I also work with found materials, acrylic & pencil to create my lively & fluent compositions. I’m 12 years old, I’m self taught & have been painting since I was 2. I began utilising spray paint & honing my craft around 3 years ago.

I’d describe my work as fresh experimentation, personal expression & interpretation of the world as a colour blind artist. I take my love of old school hip hop culture & graffiti & lend a contemporary twist. I infuse my pieces with graffiti references, inspired shapes & layered pattern.

My bubble is my signature & can be found across the majority of my work.

I’m inspired by artists like basquiat, pollock & Keith harring . I’m the youngest artist to have work in the Baltic Gateshead, Casildart contemporary, left bank Leeds & the National centre for children’s books.

I’ve had work in galleries, painted murals, completed commissions for overseas and I’ve had a successful solo show, with another coming up in August. I’ve featured in 3 books , in the media & also had a half hour tv show ( available on iplayer presently) .

I was recently interviewed by the Baltic in my studio, for their archive which was a great honour. I also did a pretty epic mural with yourselves at Redcar gallery. I absolutely love working with you .

Selected Work

Name: Windrush Whispers

This is my grandmother, part of the Windrush generation. I painted her from an old photo as a young woman arriving from St Kitts. Her warming coat holds the boat’s bow; her expression meets the unknown. I feel a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of this piece.
